Roof Refurbishment & Asbestos Overcladding of a Large Warehouse in Staffordshire

We were approached by the landlord of a storage facility for Marstons, the warehouse also had some additional units attached that all had tenants in situ.

The 11,000m2 asbestos roof was leaking, and it was time the landlords installed a new roof, whilst also increasing their insulation rating. Over cladding the existing asbestos roof meant that the works could be carried out with minimum disruption to the businesses that were operational below.

Detailed pre start information was provided, (which JDB issue to all clients regardless of project size) to include works programmes, construction phase plans, Risk and Method Statements (RAMS).

Before works commenced at the Marstons site all H & S measures were installed to include safety netting and edge protection. This involved working with the tenants, ensuring there was clear access for the safety netting team to navigate their way round the racking via Mewp.

Our quotations don’t just include the installation of the roof, we will project manage your refurbishment, coordinating structural engineers surveys and reports to ensure the integrity of the framework is up for the additional load of an overclad, instructing surveyors to carry out the prerequisite Refurbishment and Demolition asbestos survey, and then as standard, reassurance asbestos air monitoring throughout the duration of the project.

Part of the yard area was pre booked out for instructional driver training and tests – so weekly timetables would be issued to advise when we could traverse that section of yard. The new roof has provided our client with a 25 years manufacturers warranty, finished off with closure trims and flashings to ensure wind and water tightness of the newly installed roof. The gutters externally were replaced with new trimline gutters, whilst the valleys had plygene liner installed.
