When we were first approached via our live chat facility on our website for a free quotation, little did we know that we would be undertaking this epic 15,500m2 project in Liverpool during a global pandemic. A request for a free quotation resulted in a magnificent project working through challenging times, but the results speak for themselves.
A structural survey had already been conducted by the client and approval had been given for an overclad of the existing structure. At the time an open-sided storage unit with asbestos sheeting, our client was experiencing leaks throughout. The board had to make the decision as to whether it would be prudent to refurbish the existing building or if it might be time to find a new facility.
Our quotation helped the board with their decision, the costs for the refurbishment were better than anticipated, and an order was placed with JDB.
At the time no one could have predicted that the world was about to enter a global pandemic and the challenges the construction industry would face whilst working through these times.
Coordinating our team to site and ensuring all Covid policies were in place, with independent welfare facilities, was paramount for the safety of our staff and our clients.
A programme of works was drawn up with dedicated teams for specific elements. Our first team to arrive would be the installation of safety netting, followed by our scaffold team, before our roofing operatives could begin work.
Supply chains were slowing down with manufacturers working at half capacity, costs were escalating for all PPE supplies, however all these additional costs were absorbed by JDB, putting our teams health and safety first!
Regardless of the challenging time, the admin team working with our suppliers managed to coordinate the delivery of all materials on schedule. Working with our suppliers for decades provides us with a relationship that has been built on years of trust, so we knew we could rely on them to fulfil all our orders.
Our senior management team oversaw the project from start to finish, with our teams meeting all timed targets. JDB overcame all challenges; winter working, 25° pitch, a global pandemic… resulting in a happy client, with a fabulous new roof with a 25 year guarantee!
