We can supply and install roof access systems such as roof hatches, ladders, scaffolding towers, handrails & stagings.
Different situations call for different solutions to enable safe trafficking across fragile steel or asbestos roofing. Some examples of safe permanent & semi permanent roof access are featured below.
Each has their own benefits and drawbacks that can be explored only through experience based planning and risk assessment.
Roof fall restraint systems
Fall restraint systems allow operatives to carry out duties upon the roof up to a safe distance from the edge of the roof. These systems allow maintenance and repairs to be carried out whilst wearing a safety harness and lanyard. Many new builds have these systems installed as part of the design but they can also be installed upon existing roofs.
These systems can be installed upon built-up twinskin roofs, composite panelling, flat single ply membrane roofs and standing seam systems. Normally these systems cannot be installed upon asbestos roofs due to their fragile nature although you should contact us today if you have a fragile roof to which regular access is required and we shall design a cost effective solution that offers safe access upon your fragile roof.
Scaffolding
To carry out any type of roofing works including maintenance or repairs effective edge protection should be erected as a basic requirement along the eaves and/or gable. The benefits are obvious as the biggest risk of any roofing works is to fall from the perimeter of the roof. Different scaffolding systems can be erected to provide safe access to cladding or as an edge protection system.
Scaffold towers are often erected where access is poor due to neighbouring buildings or the height of the building itself. JDB Industrial roofing provide scaffolding for the majority of its own roofing projects Scaffolding is erected by licensed personnel and full health & safety documentation is provided with every project.
Roof access systems
When regular access is required upon a roof, a semi permanent access system can be supplied and installed. This is of particular importance when a roof is particularly fragile, such as those constructed from fibre cement or asbestos roofs.
Contact us with your requirements for an access system, these can reside permanent upon the roof or erected for use each time they are needed. Let us know the dimensions of the roof to be accessed, its type and the frequency with which access shall be required and we shall tailor a system to match your requirements.
