Roof Encapsulation in East Anglia

A 2600m2 food store was in urgent need of encapsulation. The roof was failing and it was a necessity to get it watertight.

On initial survey JDB identified severe cut edge corrosion throughout and a coating system was deemed the most cost effective and appropriate way of increasing the longevity of the roof.

The Giromax Girosil system using newly advanced leading technology is fully moisture tolerant and hardens to a tough elastic coating with high impact and dirt resistance. Using the different products within the range we would be able to treat the edge laps, gutters and fully coat the whole roof.

Once risk assessments, method statements, programmes of works were approved during pre construction meetings, materials were ordered to site whilst all health and safety elements were installed by our safety netting and scaffolding teams.

Preparation is key in coating refurbishments. The more attention to detail that is spent on the existing substrate before the liquids are applied the longer and more durable the coating system become, often surpassing the manufacturers years of warranty.

The patch repairs that had been conducted previously were of a poor standard, and it was necessary to clean and remove these before our works could start. Then the team jetwash the entire roof with a spinning head high pressure washer, before sealing the laps, edges, and joints with Girosil Edge RC-E. The entire roof is then encapsulated with a one coat Girosil roofcoat RC.

Valley gutters were refurbished using the RC-G gutter coating, and new trimline gutters were installed to the front and rear elevations. Perfect weather conditions ensured JDB were on and off the project in no time, exceeding all targets set, much to the clients delight with a 20 year manufacturer guarantee. We can’t wait to start work on the next projects our client has instructed us to start!
