Project Details
We were approached by a client to assist in the refurbishment of a building with an asbestos roof.
A solution was required to stop the existing leaks, however after JDB had conducted an inspection, it was apparent that the roof had deteriorated to the extent that maintaining it was no longer an option.
We provided our client with two options – a strip and resheet, or an overclad of the existing roof. Both offer lengthy manufacturer guarantees, however on this occasion the overclad was more cost effective for the client, and his building could remain operational throughout the works. Opting for an overclad meant that the old roof would still be seen internally, but for this project the aesthetics were lower down the scale than a water tight roof.
With the overclad it gave us the opportunity to upgrade the buildings insulation, and replace the existing rooflights.
The refurbishment of the building was completed with wall cladding in green to three elevations, resulting in a magnificent transformation of an old tired building.
