Refurbishment
The Environment

JDB Industrial Roofing Ltd have carried out refurbishments on wall and roof cladding, rainwater products and weathering on projects of all sizes throughout the UK for several years. Our in-depth experience allows us to provide quotations for sheet lap or gutter coating, gutter lining & panelling replacement as well as complete strip & resheets or overclads. We are usually able to carry out works of any type without affecting the daily running of your business through careful planning and safe working practices.

If you're considering moving premises due to the condition of your roof, cladding, rainwater products or even the size of your building we may be able to provide an alternative more cost effective approach. The changing environment combined with accidental damage can lead to the early dilapidation of roofing, guttering or cladding. Call us to arrange a site survey and we'll advise you on your refurbishment options.

JDB Industrial Roofing view refurbishment as another form of recycling. We consider the environment within every project we consider in an effort to combine practicality of building uses, carbon footprints and financial issues. All of the products we use are accompanied by documentation regarding their impact upon the local and global environment.

One of our main concerns is to limit wastage of materials as much as possible, all of our sites are run efficiently with regard to waste management and control which enables us to combine environmental and economical considerations.

Fibre cement sheeting containing the white crysotile form of asbestos is always removed as per HSE guidelines and disposed of by licensed contractors within dedicated skips minimising the risk of environmental contamination throughout the process.

Roof replacement
Roof and cladding replacement Roof and cladding replacement at Avon Plywood, Bristol

An average steel roof is given a lifespan of approximately 20-40 years dependent upon location. This usually includes the steel as well as the coating. Certainly there are asbestos type roofs still in use that had been built after the war but dependent upon location, fibre cement roofs can suffer badly from corroded fixings or cracked and moss covered sheeting. Steel roofs often start to show signs of fixings and sheet lap deterioration after 20 years which often lead to leaks.

Roof replacement is a subject that may conjure images of closures or interruptions to working processes but this need not always be the case. Following the installation of safety netting or other forms of height protection we are more than able to carry out the replacement of your roof whilst minimising disruption through careful planning.

  Rooflight replacement

Replacement rooflights

Rooflights (or skylights) often become discoloured over time from exposure to ultra violet radiation. This discolouration is sometimes mistaken for dirt but attempts at cleaning them will have little or no effect as the discolouration lies within the fibres of the GRP.

Sometimes a roof may have twinskin rooflights where the internal liner sits below the topsheet. Sometimes the problem may only be within the topsheet allowing us to simply replace with new or both may require replacement. If your energy bills are high due to lighting being constantly on due to this problem call to arrange a survey and we shall ascerain the best course of action.

  Overcladding

As an alternative to the replacement of your roofing, overcladding can offer an economical and practical alternative. With very little or no impact upon the daily running of your business overcladding can resolve problems with multiple leaks in your existing roof.

Overcladding becomes an environmentally friendly concept when increasing thermal efficiency with the addition of insulation. Sometimes overcladding is an option we can offer but not in all cases, quite often it is carried out purely for aesthetic purposes which can be cost effective method of modernising industrial buildings. Call to arrange a survey and we shall see if overcladding is an option for your building.

  Encapsulation

Asbestos sheeting can be encapsulated both internally and externally. The process seals the fibre cement panels on the outside and adds an element of insulation to the inside. Application can be carried out with spraying systems and we would recommend the building to be empty during the works.

Asbestos panelling can also be encapsulated with solution that forms a vapour barrier to prevent condensation forming upon fibre cement sheeting. Applied properly with the correct preparation of the fibre cement sheet, encapsulation can be an effective and economic roof refurbishment solution.
